Cold Stone Creamery

Cold Stone Creamery is a franchise first established in Tempe, Az in 1988. The company offers a soft ice cream which is combined with a variety of "mix-ins" on a frozen granite slab.

The company began franchising and quickly expanded to 1000 stores by 2005.

Cold Stone merged with Kahala Group in 2009. Kahala had invested in other fast food brands including Ranch One Grilled Chicken, Samarai Sam's Teriyaki Grill, Taco Time, Great Steak, Johnnie's New York Pizzeria, Blimpie and Wafflo. Kahala named Doug Ducey (future governor of Arizona) as CEO.

In 2013, the Serruya Family of Canada, which owned the brand Yogen Fruz, bought controlling interest in Kahala. In 2015, the company then acquired Planet Smoothie, Tasti D-Lite and Maui Wowi.

Kahala, itself, was acquired by a larger Canadia company called MTY Food Group Inc. MTY trades on the TSX with the symbol MTY.

The headquarters of Kahala remains in Scottsdale, Az. The headquarters of MTY are in Saint-Laurent, Quebec. The video shows the making of a Waffle Cone.
