MotherNature.com is a good source for organic shade grown bird friendly coffee. Coffee is a shade loving plant. Traditional coffee plantations were under the forest canapy. These plantations became favorite grounds for migratory birds. Recently, hybrids have been developed which can grow fast and furiously under the full sun. The result is that coffee plantations remove the canapy to grow these new hybrids leaving the birds without a limb. (that's even worse than being out on a limb).
